Organisation profile:

Volume Graphics GmbH is an SME IT company, which was founded in April 1997 as a spinoff of the University of Heidelberg/Mannheim. The Volume Graphics core team has nearly 20 years of experience in volume rendering technologies. Continuously growing, Volume Graphics is privately owned with its headquarters located in Heidelberg, Germany. The Volume Graphics team consists solely of employees with a Master degree or PhD in computer sciences or Physics. Volume Graphics’ traditional core markets are in industrial quality control applications and life sciences (3D data viewing, surgery planning and navigation, etc.) as well as in the scientific markets. Today, Volume Graphics successfully supports customers worldwide directly or through its reseller and OEM network. The main product of Volume Graphics, VGStudio MAX, is a wide spread application for non-destructive testing and quality control with several thousand installations world-wide. Today, VGStudio products are bundled as OEM product by most of the world’s well known manufacturers of industrial CT equipment. Due to the close collaboration with several aerospace companies in recent years, Volume Graphics has an excellent knowledge of today’s most demanding customer request as porosity analysis and structure characterization of composite materials.

Role in the project:

Volume Graphics will act as WP leader in WP7 and will contribute to WP3 and WP8, thus bringing in its knowledge in both porosity analysis and microstructure characterization as well as in evaluation methods. In the area of 3D post-processing and evaluation methods, Volume Graphics will contribute to the development of a demonstrator to both evaluate the developed algorithms and demonstrate the capabilities on one well-known aeronautic component, e.g. a part of a wing.
