Multimodal approaches for characterization of microstructural evolution

The main goal of this strategic project is the simultaneous combination of non-destructive techniques to study the evolution of the microstructure of materials under the effect of different types of external loads.
Although the use of non-destructive methods to characterize microstructural evolution has significantly advanced in the last decade, the combination of techniques leading to non-destructive multi-modal experimental approaches for microstructure characterization is still a scientific field that needs to be established. Therefore, the goal of this strategic project is the simultaneous combination of non-destructive techniques to study the microstructure of materials and their evolution under the effect of different types of external loads. From a methodological point of view, this will require the adaptation of available experimental setups, the construction of new experimental stages and the development of data fusion procedures to evaluate the data obtained individually with each technique.
