The Fraunhofer Development Center X-ray Technology EZRT (FHG, www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/profil/abteilungen/ezrt.html) was founded in 1998 as a common Department of the two Fraunhofer Institutes IIS Erlangen and IZFP Saarbrücken. The Development Center X-ray Technology focuses on nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) of objects by means of X-ray methods, especially computed tomography (www.iis.fraunhofer.de/bf/xrt/tech/ct/). At the moment this department employs more than 30 full time researchers in this field.

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mechanics is a leading scientific center with long traditions in fundamental and applied research in mechanics, robotics, mechatronics, biomechanics and physico chemical mechanics (www.imbm.bas.bg).
The research group “OLEM” (http://www.imbm.bas.bg/index.php/en_US/olem) which is mainly involved in the NanoXCT project consists of 1 professor, 3 research assistants and 2PhD students. The OLEM profile is related with development and characterization of polymer nanocomposites and nanostructured materials. The structure-properties relationships are studied in details, as focused on: degree of nanofiller dispersion; characterization of nano structure, polymer-nanofiller interactions (bonding polymer layer), effects of nanostructure on physical and mechanical properties.
